<itunes:summary>Today I want to talk about customers and, more importantly, the lifetime value of your customers. Now, it's a very, very important thing, the lifetime value of a customer, because a not many people really look after or really value how much that relationship is worth, not just in terms of dollars, but in terms of what it can do for your business over many, many years.

The reason I want to bring it up today is something that happened to me earlier. I had been using a subscription service, some software that we use in house here at Oracle Digital. Now, when I use this software, my credit card expired. Okay, that's fine, they let me know, and they gave me plenty of notice. I tried to update my credit card several times, yet their merchant gateway people that they used were having problems and, as such, it wouldn't renew. What happened was when I actually got it to renew, finally after several weeks, the supplier who we used, they actually put their prices up by about 70% on what we were already paying per month. Now they didn't tell me this at all. When I found out what had happened, I approached their customer support and, indeed, I approached their management as well and told them what was happening and tried to get back in on the plan which I was under. The thing was they didn't want to have anything to do with me.

Now, we had been using these people for well over a year and given them a lot of money and still they didn't want to deal with me as a customer. They said, "Pay the extra money or go and spend it somewhere else." You know what I did don't you? I went and spent somewhere else.

Think about your customer and the lifetime value with a customer. Now, with the example I just provided, my lifetime value was about one year. If they had given me the opportunity to continue on the payment plan I was on, I would have stayed for another four or five years. There would be no reason for me to have stopped paying them. However, that company is not getting my money anymore and another company is getting my money. My lifetime value with them will hopefully be a lot longer.

Think about the lifetime value of your customer and see what you can do to make that experience a much longer time, much more profitable for your customer and much more profitable for your business.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>In today's episode of OD.TV, James talks about the massive changes that Google has brought to the table this year, and how it has been effecting business owners.

The fact is you no longer need to be so reliant on Google as your saviour (or your nemesis) is delivering solid and targeted traffic. In many cases your potential audience may not even be actively searching for your products or services on Google search right now.

James goes on to give some simple, yet highly effective other channels to derive quality traffic from:

Social Media - done correctly and accessing some cost effective paid solutions this can open up new potential traffic channels.
Video Marketing - just like we are doing now. We capture our existing audience, and we get quality traffic from new channels that brings us leads and ultimately sales.
Remarketing - are you seeing Oracle Digital banners following you around the Internet? There's a good reason why you are seeing this. Super cost effective, and it can be amazingly effective.
Paid Advertising - Go where your audience live, and you can be surprised how cost effective many types of advertising can be.

Now is the time to be understanding Google is not the be all and end all, and you need to be investigating where your potential customers live online, and getting your message in front of them in that space.

To find out more about how Oracle Digital can assist you in opening up multiple communication channels, then contact us today.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) is something many preach, yet few practice. Why? Because it takes smarts and personal attention from an experienced and knowledgable marketing brain. Now there are are loads of qualified bodies around, yet because it does involve an intimate understanding of the target traffic, and soaks up time, it is something many let slip by in favour of just delivering more traffic.
So exactly what is website conversion optimisation?
In a nutshell, optimising many variables on your website in order to increase a given conversion rate. This could be some of the following:

	Increased sales
	Increased mailing list opt in
	Increased contact forms submitted
	Increased phone leads

A while back you could consider yourself doing conversion optimisation if you were to change a headline, or even the colour of that same headline, and tracking data to see which one gave you better results. It was commonly done in the Internet Marketing community, with great success by those whom could be bothered to do it, yet rarely done in the 'real' online business world.

With the ongoing assault by Google with various Panda and Penguin updates, and generally them starting to gear up towards a higher focus on serving up paid placements in their search results, conversion optimisation is something that can no longer be ignored by your online endeavours.

Generally speaking, the days of bringing massive amounts of organic traffic (via Google at least) are becoming more difficult not only because of various algo updates, but also because more and more of your competitors are entering the online space and conducting their own SEO and online marketing.

So, if it's going to be much more difficult, and indeed expensive to say double your traffic, would it not be a great idea to begin to bring to the forefront trying to increase your given conversion rates?
Let's have a look at a fictional, yet realistic example for a small business in Australia
Joe's Hammer Shop has been online for a few years now, and has even been doing SEO and other traffic/content strategies, that sees the website bring in (on average) 2000 unique visitors across Australia every month.

Joe sells one hammer for every 100 visitors (1% conversion) that come via his websites. That's a total of 20 hammers a month in sales.

Now ask yourself this, it Joe wanted to sell 40 hammers a month, would it be more viable to bring 2000 more unique visitors (total of 4000 p/m), or would it make much more sense to begin looking at making some on site changes that could see him begin to sell two hammers for every 100 visitors (2%) he gets coming through?

Just by making even some simple changes to your web properties, you can begin to see real improvements in optimisation rates very quickly.

Now if you do conversion optimisation in conjunction with bringing even more targeted traffic, then you can begin to compound the sales.
Real conversion optimisation advice
In the near future, Oracle Digital will be bringing you more advice on actual changes that you can begin to be doing on your website, in order to improve your conversion rates. However if you can't wait, or want a done for you service, then you can contact us here, or call us on 1300 899 851, and we'll be only too happy to assist you with your requirements.

<itunes:summary>The power of an online press release
Looking for help in getting your Google rankings heading North? How about some attention from local and international media outlets? More sales perhaps? You want authority in your market as well? So many things you want, let's have a look at just one strategy we employ here at Oracle Digital to make all this happen, in just one little step.

A professionally written press release, submitted to the right platform, can achieve all of this plus more.

Without bogging you down in the technical details of it all, this is a perfect way to get a 'jump start' on a new website too, providing a solid and reputable backlink profile, that in Google's eyes is enough for them to give you their tick of approval, and get some search engine love from them.

A press release is not just about slapping a self promoting news article together though, it needs to be planned and thought out with intelligence, ensuring that you reach your desired audience, and achieve the maximum effect from a single release.
All good content needs intelligent planning
There is too much rubbish content on the Internet right now, and no one is more annoyed with this state of play than Google is. Why Google? Because they are the ones who have to trawl through and sort the hay from the chaff (figuratively speaking), and it's a darn hard job to do that.

When creating an online press release, keep in mind that this is so much more an exercise in exposure than trying in to create backlinks. In fact I'll say that quality backlinks are just a positive side effect. Craft your release with reader engagement in mind (like all content needs to be), and the net you cast will be so much more efficacious.
Not all online press release platforms are equal
Having done years of testing with paid and free services, there are a few standout winners, and a few that you would not even waste your time submitting your carefully crafted message too. One of our favourites for an all round approach, is PRWeb.com's service which you can read about here. Their price point of about $200 just for the submission, which automatically filters out the freeloaders and the junk online marketers. Also, they have a very strict submission policy, that will be manually approved by human eyes for every single release, ensuring stringent guidelines are adhered to at all times.
Let Oracle Digital spread the word for your business
If you have a message that needs spreading, and you also want to get awesome brand awareness, increased search engine rankings, and even drive sales, then you need to seriously be looking at online press releases, as part of your overall communications and web marketing endeavours. Oracle Digital can help you, call us on 1300 899 851 or contact us via this link here.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Online marketing is just not about bragging rights
A common discussion that is heard around the industry and from clients, is the importance placed on being #1 on Google for given keywords. Yes it's nice to have it secured away if possible, but are we getting too focused on something that is really distracting you from your probable real goal, which is increasing revenue/profitability?

Like most businesses, Oracle Digital at the end of the day, has to turn a profit for it to keep going. Funnily enough, we don't get all caught up at being in the top spot on Google in order to achieve this from our online endeavours.
SEO is just one piece of the pie
There is no question that getting solid and consistant high rankings over multiple keywords has become more challenging over the last 12 months, so it has been a great reminder that profitability is so much more than bringing more traffic to a website.

Do we put 100% focus into getting you #1 for your main keyword, when in fact we could put the same effort into ranking you for a bunch of other keywords, that might not bring more traffic, but will bring much more targeted traffic? I personally would much rather have 25 really juicy keywords ranking on page one of Google, rather than be ranking #1 for an ego keyword that could bring a lot of traffic, but perhaps not too much commercial intent.
Google is not the only source of qualified traffic
Yes that' right, Google may be a big hitter in providing traffic to your website, although to have all your eggs in one basket so to speak, is not good form. What would you do if Google came out with a new update that saw your website de-indexed by them? What if they decided that the entire first page of search results was now reserved for paid adverts only?
Get your content out to other quality operators
Traffic can come from a plethora of sources, and now is the time to be investigating them in your online marketing campaign. Do you purchase banner advertising space from niche websites in your indusrty? How about submitting white papers to a service like Scribd? Perhaps create an authority podacast and have an iTunes channel? Do you submit newsworthy Press Releases to a service such as PRWeb?

There are many options available for bringing quality traffic to your website, and I suggest that you take advantage of them as part of a multi pronged online marketing exercise.
Conversion Optimisation
Why would you just want to get 1000 visitors to your website each month, and convert 1% of them into a customer. Perhaps you can begin to look at optimising your website to increase your conversion rate. Making simple changes on your website, such as introducing a site wide contact form, could overnight double your customer conversion rate. How good is that.

There is so much opportunity available online right now, and the latest Google Penguin update was a great reminder that you should not be putting all your focus on Google to deliver results. Instead look at other traffic channels, focus on conversion optimisation, and above all, engage with your current and potential customers with quality content.

Need help doing all this? Then contact us and let us kick you some goals.</itunes:summary>
